What I collect and why
- Your email address, the date and the version of the sign-up text: to send you my newsletter. Legal basis: your consent, given by clicking “Subscribe” and confirmed through the link sent by email.
- Your nickname or name and preferred language (French or English): to personalise my newsletter and write to you in your language. Legal basis: your consent.
- Information sent by your browser, on every visit to this page and when you subscribe: IP address, browser and operating system (“user agent” and browser technical hints), language, referring page, campaign parameters (utm), device type, time taken to fill in the form. An approximate location (city, region, country) and the name of your internet provider are derived from the IP address using a database hosted on my own server: your IP address is never sent to any third-party service. Purposes: proving your subscription, preventing abuse and measuring which sources bring visits and subscriptions. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- A technical fingerprint of your device, computed when you click “Subscribe”: time zone, languages, screen size and density, number of processors, memory, touch screen or not, graphics processor and a graphics rendering signature. It is used only to detect fraudulent, automated or duplicate sign-ups from the same device. It is never used for advertising or to track you on other websites. Legal basis: legitimate interest (form security). You can object by writing to me: it will be erased.
No cookies are set. No data is sold or shared for commercial purposes.
Address verification
To check that your address can receive email, the domain name of your address (the part after the @, never the full address) may be submitted to public DNS services (Cloudflare, Google).
Retention
- Your address, the history of your subscription and of any unsubscription, and the related technical information: kept as long as my newsletter exists, to prove your consent and to make sure you receive nothing after unsubscribing.
- You can ask for them to be erased at any time (see below): this is done within one month.
Hosting
OVHcloud, 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France. The data stays in France.
Your rights
At any time you can access your data, have it corrected or erased, object to its processing or withdraw your consent by writing to me at newsletter@courbedame.fr. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. If you are not satisfied, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
